A true community is not just the accident of a group of people occupying the same space at the same time. Community happens when people are part of each other's lives, when they show compassion in a time of hardship, and when they come together to celebrate a time of joy.
Our Sisterhood and Brotherhood are essential parts of how Temple Sinai comes together socially and in service. CRAFTY Junior and Senior are our Temple youth groups for middle school and high school students. Shireinu, our volunteer choir, brings music and joy to our services. Our Social Action Committee works for Tikkun Olam to repair our broken world by feeding the hungry and supporting social policies that care for those in need. Our Biblical Garden is tended by members of the congregation as a lesson in Jewish history and scripture written in root, stem, flower and leaf. The Kosher Senior Café, operated by Jewish Family Services, serves lunch and provides programs and social gathering for seniors at Temple Sinai five days a week.
Temple Sinai takes pride in its homey, "what you see is what you get" friendliness — a part of the Rhode Island character that we love. We are a place where our kids are free to run around as if they were in their own home. We are a place where people laugh, dance and play with their best friends. We are a place where people have conversations about the most serious and meaningful issues in their lives. We are a place where people truly care about each other, look out for each other, and make a difference in the lives of friends and strangers alike.
The best way to learn about our community is to spend time with us. Our services are lively and participatory. Our educational programs are engaging and personally meaningful. Our social action programs make a difference in people's lives. Join us.
