AsktheRabbi
What does Judaism teach about life after death? Why are we not supposed to drink beer during Passover? Can converts to Judaism become Israeli citizens under the Law of Return?
Jews ask a lot of questions. When we try to answer them, we find that the answers provoke even more questions. That is the way that Judaism has always been. The entirety of the Talmud can be understood as expanding rounds of questions and answers that lead to more questions.
For more than a decade, we have had two "Ask the Rabbi" services every year, one in the summer and one in the winter. The idea for the service came from Ellen Jordan, who was then Temple Sinai's Vice President. She noticed that many Jews have a lot of questions – from the basic to the complex – about Jewish practice, history, and belief. It would be good, she thought, to give people a chance to ask their questions. We completely agree.
Come to one of our "Ask the Rabbi" services. Take some time to think about what questions you would like to have answered. If you want, you can send your your questions to the rabbi using the form below. He will do his best to answer them all on that Friday evening.
