Finding Meaning in the High Holy Days
How often do people attend services for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur without a clear idea about what they are supposed to get out of it? How often do we sit in the synagogue, praying the same prayers as every year, without finding them meaningful or purposeful?
Rabbi Goldwasser spent his sabbatical in 2024 studying the historical development of the High Holy Days to find their original meaning and how that meaning has evolved over the centuries. In this adult education course on three consecutive Thursday evenings, he will share insights on how the Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur rituals originated and what can make them meaningful for us today. Join us in the Chapel on Thursday, September 4, 11, and 18, at 7PM. No registration or reservation required. Not available on Zoom.
