Senior Kosher Café Temple Sinai is the host site for the Kosher Senior Café run by Jewish Collaborative Services of Rhode Island on Fridays at 11AM. The program offers kosher meals and socializing for older adults and those with physical disabilities. Reservations are required two days in advance for meals, and there is a suggested donation of $3 per meal. There is no charge for scheduled social activities. Shabbat Morning Breakfast & Torah Study Our Shabbat breakfast and Torah study meets in the Chapel every Saturday morning at 9:30 AM. A crew of volunteers prepare and serve the scrambled eggs, French toast, pancakes, and creamy oatmeal for all comers. Then, we'll really get cooking with study of the weekly Torah portion at 10:00 AM. When there is no bar or bat mitzvah, we enjoy an hour-long service, including Torah reading, at 11:00 AM. Tikkun Olam in the Kingdom of God Abraham Joshua Heschel as a Relevant Prophet Delve Deeper, the Jewish education initiative for greater Rhode Island, is bringing "Tikkun Olam in the Kingdom of God" to our community. The course will examine how Abraham Joshua Heschel, one of the most important Jewish thinkers of the last hundred years, applied the writings of the Hebrew prophets to contemporary issues. The course will be taught by Dr. Dror Bondi, a scholar who has worked for 20 years to bring Heschel's thought to Israel. The course will be held on Zoom on Sundays, 10AM to noon, from September 15 to November 24. Registration is $250. Please do not let cost be a barrier! Selichot Service Our annual Selichot service, featuring Shireinu, will be on Saturday, September 28. Selichot is a service of penitential prayers that prepare us for the coming Days of Awe. We will begin with a breakfast at 9 PM sponsored by our Temple Brotherhood. The service begins in the Sanctuary at 10 PM. We will dress our Torah scrolls in their white holiday mantles and hear Shireinu and Cantor Deborah sing the haunting melodies of the High Holy Days. |

The service is intended for families with children up to fifth grade. The service will be led by Alana Deluty and will include song, snacks and crafts. Rosh Hashanah Shaboom Rabbi Goldwasser will lead a program for families with children up to five years old on the Sanctuary bimah. We will read stories, eat apples and honey, and take a peek inside the ark. Invite your friends and family members with toddlers and preschoolers. This program will not be on Zoom. |

Tashlich at Goddard Park Tashlich is a traditional Rosh Hashanah ritual in which we throw pieces of bread into a natural body of water to symbolically cast away our sins. We will meet at the beach at Goddard Memorial State Park in Warwick (listed as East Greenwich on many maps) at 4:00 PM. Following the ritual, we will have a tailgate party on the beach with apples and honeycake. Bring your kids, your own bread, and a dessert to share. Most importantly, bring your sins and your desire to make a new beginning. The event will also be on Facebook Live on the Temple's Facebook page. It will not be presented on Zoom. |

Second Day Meditation Service To observe the second day of Rosh Hashanah, Rabbi Goldwasser will lead a meditation service in the Sanctuary. The service is suitable for experienced meditators and for first-timers. We will sit in guided meditations that allow us to relax and reflect on the Birthday of the World and on the task of repentance. Attend in person or over Zoom. Tickets are not required for this service. |
OCTOBER 11 & 12
Yom Kippur Services Join us in the Sanctuary or over Zoom for our services on the holiest day of the Jewish year. Tickets and Zoom passwords are required for two services: the evening service (Kol Nidre) on Friday, October 11, at 7:30 PM, and the morning service on Saturday, October 12 at 10 AM. A Family Service for families with children up to fifth grade is open to all in the Chapel on Saturday morning at 10 AM. Yom Kippur Shaboom, for families with children up to five years old, will be in the Sanctuary on Saturday at 2PM. The concluding service of Yom Kippur will be in the Sanctuary and on Zoom on Saturday at 3:30 PM. This includes the Yizkor service at 5PM. |
