Religious Liberty…or Christian Nation?
Did you know that God wasn't in the Pledge of Allegiance until 1954? Why are there fights over school vouchers? How well is religious liberty working in the US today? In this three-session course, Temple Sinai member Dr. Katharine Batlan will take us through the history, politics and law of religious liberty in America with some special attention to the role and concerns of Jews. We will understand the history leading up to controversies now heading to the Supreme Court. |
Jewish Movie Night
Every week, we invite you to watch a movie with a Jewish theme available on Netflix or Tubi and then discuss it with us on Thursday night at 7PM. Our movie on January 21 will be Out in the Dark. It's a drama centered on the love affair between two men on opposite sides of the conflict: Palestinian student Nimer and Roy, a Jewish Israeli lawyer. You can watch the trailer here, then, watch the whole movie for free on Tubi (with advertisements). |

Sephardic Cooking with Raymond Buttero
Temple Sinai's keyboard accompanist Raymond Buttero is also a master of Sephardic cooking. Growing up in a family with deep roots in Italian Sephardic culture, Raymond's cuisine is a delight of the aromatic and earthy dishes enjoyed by Jews descended from the Spanish expulsion. Raymond's cooking class will meet on Monday evenings at 6PM, starting on January 25. |

Shabbat Torah Reading
On the first and third Saturday of each month, we have a Zoom service for reading the Torah. Join us as we recite the traditional prayers and hear the words of Torah. The service also includes prayers for healing and the Mourners Kaddish in remembrance of those who have died in recent days and those who have died in past years at this season. Saturday, February 6, 11AM |
