MinyanBreakfast
Click here to download the study sheet for this week.
Our Shabbat morning Minyan Breakfast meets in the Chapel every Saturday morning at 9:30 AM. A crew of volunteers prepares and serves the scrambled eggs, French toast, pancakes, and creamy oatmeal for all comers. Then, we'll really get cooking with study of the weekly Torah portion at 10:00 AM. When there is no bar or bat mitzvah, we enjoy an hour-long service in the Chapel, including Torah reading, at 11:00 AM.
The Minyan Breakfast and Torah study has been a Temple Sinai tradition for more than forty years. Sometimes we read extensive passages from the weekly parashah. Sometimes we focus on just a few words and read commentaries from ancient texts, medieval rabbis, or contemporary scholars. It is a fun and joyful morning of food for the belly and food for the soul!
Torah study can be viewed on Zoom starting at 10:00 AM.

Donald Wexler and Stanley Horovitz, ז׳׳ל

For more than forty years, Donald Wexler and Stanley Horovitz prepared the Shabbat Morning Minyan Breakfast. But they were more than cooks who prepared the scrambled eggs and the oatmeal. They were the comedy duo that entertained us. They were the organizers that made sure that all the volunteers knew what to do. They were the keepers of the flame and the spiritual glue that held the Minyan Breakfast together.
Both Don and Stan inherited their roles from their family members who came before them. We named the fund that supports the program "The Horovitz/Wexler Minyan Breakfast Fund" in honor of their parents. We lost Donald in November of 2019 and Stanley in June of 2025. The Minyan Breakfast continues with their memory keeping us and inspiring us. |
