Learning that grows our Jewish souls
Jewish Learning at Temple Sinai
To be a Jew is to be a student. One of the secrets of Jewish survival and success is that we never stop learning. At Temple Sinai, you are invited to grow your Jewish soul through lifelong Jewish learning.
Our Religious School on Sunday mornings gives your child a foundation for Judaism supported by the Jewish experiences they have at home. Hebrew education starts in third grade and gives students the preparation they need to experience Judaism in the language of the Jewish people.
At age 13, your child will be ready to put his or her Jewish learning into practice by becoming a Bar or Bat Mitzvah in a service to be cherished as a joyful Jewish memory.
In high school, your child will participate in a Confirmation class for adult-level Jewish learning with the Rabbi. The Confirmation year culminates in a Shavuot service led by the students.
We don't stop there, though. Temple Sinai's Adult Education program is designed to appeal to you, whether you are just beginning your Jewish journey or if you are seeking in-depth study of Jewish history, texts, spirituality and culture.
Rabbi Goldwasser works with adults (18 or older) in Rhode Island who are interested in Conversion to Judaism. Contact the Rabbi if you are interested in learning more.
Because the most important kind of Jewish learning is what we learn in the home, we provide a Guide to Jewish Family Life that includes some ideas for Jewish practices you can experience at home.
We Jews never stop learning. It is part of what defines us as a people, and it is a central part of the identity of Temple Sinai.
