Sanctuary Visits between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur

During this difficult year of the pandemic, we are very pleased to make the Temple’s Sanctuary available for visits by individuals and small family groups between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. We know how much the sacred space of our Sanctuary means to our members and how very difficult it is for us not to be able to worship there as a community during the High Holy Days. We hope that your visit will be a spiritually meaningful opportunity for prayer and reflection in our sacred space.

Temple Sinai members are invited to sign up for one of the 20-minute slots below. You may come alone or with up to a total of six people who all live in the same household. Time slots are from Tuesday, September 22, to Friday, September 25. All participants must wear masks the entire time they are in the building and only one person or household group will be permitted in the Temple at a time. Please review the complete rules for Sanctuary visits below.

To make this experience safe and meaningful for everyone, we require you to observe the following rules for your visit. Please read these rules thoroughly.

• Arrive on time. Wait in your car and do not enter the Temple building until the beginning of your time slot.

• Enter the building through the front (upstairs) doors of the Temple building. Limit your visit to the upstairs lobby and Sanctuary areas. To confine contamination, do not enter the Social Hall, the lower floor, or any other part of the building.

• You may bring other members of your household with you, but please limit the number of people to no more than six.

• Feel free to take one of the sheets of suggested prayers from the table in the foyer. Once you take a sheet, it is yours to keep. Do not leave it in the Temple building.

• There will be a guide in the foyer and Sanctuary to help you if you have any questions or concerns during your visit. Follow all of your guide’s instructions.

• You and all members of your party MUST WEAR MASKS that fully cover your mouth and nose at all times while you are in the building. Disposable masks are available outside the front door. If you use one, please take it with you when you leave.

• Please do not use any of the Temple’s lavatories during your visit.

• Please only walk along the path designated by the yellow arrows on the floor.

• Please take care to minimize your physical contact with any Temple furnishings (tables, chairs, pews, etc.) This will make it easier to sanitize the space between visits to keep all visitors safe.

• When you enter the Sanctuary, you will see that it contains video and audio equipment that we use to create our virtual services. Please be careful not to touch any of the equipment.

• You are welcome to walk up onto the bimah and to stand before the ark. Your guide will be happy to open the ark curtains for you if you wish.

• Take your time standing before the ark. Pray, talk, sing, bow, chant, hug and embrace as you wish. This is your time.

• Leave the building by the end of your appointed time. Time slots are for twenty minutes, but you do not need to stay for the full time. For safety and courtesy, please leave the Temple grounds quickly at the end of your visit to avoid interaction with the visitors who will follow you.

L’shanah tovah tikateivu.
May you be inscribed for a good year.
